Week 11 announcements (and a few for week 12 as well)

Evening all.

Here are this weeks announcements (and a few for next week as well).

Small Groups:

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as usual

Prayer Meeting:

Tuesday morning @ 8am in the Chaplaincy (5F01)

It is a great way to start the day.

I-cafe:

Wednesday evening @ 7.30pm in the Staff Common Room

This is a great opportunity to get alongside the international students and show them Gods love.

It would be great to see you there.

Thursday night meeting:

Thursday evening @ 7.30pm in the Students Union.

This week our speaker is Sam Balmer.

Next Tuesday we hope to do some evangilism on the mall. We hope to give out candy canes with a wee verse of some sort. We hope to do this from 11am to around 1pm. We would greatly appreciate some help with this. More details to follow.

Yes, its that time of year again. Thursday 13th December is our annual CU Carol service. It would be great to see you there and we would love it if you brought your friends along with you.

Announcements for Week 7 & Week 8.

Good evening one and indeed all. Week 7 is finally upon us. Scary how quick the year has gone. Anyhow, here are the announcements for weeks 7 and 8.

Week 7 - This Week:

Small groups as usual Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings

I-cafe on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Staff Common Room. This week they are doing a photo challenge as well as a Bible study and it would be great if you could make it along and lend a hand.

Thursday night meeting - As usual we have our Thursday night meeting in the Students Union @ 7.30pm. This week is MAP night and our speaker for the evening is Rick Hill. For those of you who don't know, MAP stands for Mission Agencies Partnership (http://www.mapmission.org/). It will be a great way to find out about some of the different mission work you can get involved in, whether it be short or long term.

Week 8 - Next Week:

Small groups as usual Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings

Prayer Meeting - The week 8 prayer meeting is 24hr prayer running from midnight on Monday night through to midnight Tuesday night. We hope to have this in the Prayer Room in room 1D05. We shall be confirming the location this week (week 7) and will post on the CU Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/uujtowncu) where it'll be. As a result there will be no Tuesday Morning prayer meeting in the chaplaincy. Sign-up sheets will hopefully be available this week at the CU meeting.

I-cafe on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Staff Common Room. A night of chilling out with the internationals. It would be great if you could get along and hang out with the internationals and share the love of God with them.

Thursday night meeting - As usual our meeting will be on Thursday in the Students Union at 7.30pm. Our speaker for week 8 is Glen Johnston.

The missing itunes podcast links - pt1

Good evening (or afternoon or morning) to one and indeed all who are reading this.

Some of you will be aware that our meetings are recorded and these recordings are then put onto the interweb for you lovely people to listen to and download. It turns out that when I was uploading them last year, I was putting the wrong links into the blog posts and as such they weren't appearing on itunes like they should have been.

Now that I have figured it out (I think), here are the proper links to the podcasts for the talks from last year. These should hopefully end up on itunes within the next few days if you want to download them. Unfortunately due to a few small technical difficulties, not all the talks were recorded last year. Sorry about that.

You may be aware that we hosted Tony Anthony during the year when he came and spoke during our events week. The link to the recording is included and it too will hopefully appear on itunes.

Over the next number of weeks our meetings will continue to be recorded and uploaded onto the web, so keep an eye out for the podcasts.

Wednesdays UUJCU Freshers week 2012 events

Good morning one and indeed all. Today we have two events which we are running.

This afternoon for those who live in the halls on campus from around 12pm to 2ish (or whenever we run out of food) we have Text-a-toastie. You may be thinking, What is text-a-toastie? or, How does it work? Let me tell you how it works. You need to text the CU phone with your flat, room and block number along with a question (a question about the cu or a faith related question) and we will bring you a FREE Toastie as well as an answer to your question. This evening we are having a BBQ in Dalriada Halls at the pool table area from around 7.30pm. This is mainly aimed at freshers, but everyone is welcome to come along for the craic.

Freshers week events

Freshers week begins on Monday 24th September 2012

Monday night:

What? Table quiz

Where? On the mezzanine across the bridge from the entrance to the library

Time? 7.30pm

Tuesday night:

What? Sports and zumba at 7pm in the sports complex followed by live music in student’s union at 8:30pm.

Does it cost anything? No. It is FREE!!!

Wednesday afternoon:

What? Text-a-toastie

Do you live in the Halls on campus? If so, text the CU phone with a question and your block/room number and we will bring you a FREE toastie and an answer to your question.

Wednesday night:

What? Barbeque

Who for? All freshers

Where and at what time? The outdoor pool table in Dalriada Halls at 7.30pm

Thursday night:

What? Our CU meeting followed by late night extra

Where and what time? The CU meeting is in The Students Union Bar at 7.30pm and Late Night Extra is after this in the staff common room where there will be tea/coffee/juice/toast/biscuits etc. This is a great time to chill out and get to know people. This year sees the return of Psalm for bedtime. There will be people about to help point you in the right direction. If you want you can send us an email and we will send you directions.

Friday afternoon:

What? Helping people with directions and getting home. If you need help to find the nearest train station, bus stop or just need to know how to get somewhere, text the CU phone and we will do our best to put you on the right track.

Tuesday 2^nd October. Week 2:

What? Social in Whiteabbey Church. A night NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

It is possible that times and venues will change over the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the blog and facebook page for the latest times and venues.
